Camiguin a Natural Paradise!
"Camiguin" is derived from the word "kamagong", a
tree belonging to the ebony family. It is pear shaped and is located in
Bohol Sea, 
120 kilometers southeast of the province of Cebu and 90 kilometers north of the City of Golden Friendship, Cagayan de Oro City. Its land area is 239 square kilometers. Its Circumferential road is 64 kilometers which can be toured around by foot by no less than 14 hours.
Camiguin is the smallest province in Northern Mindanao, with its land area pegged at 29,187 hectares. It is composed of five towns, namely, Mambajao – the capital town, Mahinog, Guinsiliban, Sagay and Catarman. The island plays host to seven volcanoes, including the still-active Mount Hibok-Hibok. According to the National Statistics Office, Camiguin has a total population of 74,232 persons, making the province the second smallest in the Philippines in terms of population.
The island itself was explored in 1521 and 1565 by the famous men in history who loved navigating the waters of the Philippines, Ferdinand Magellan and Miguel Lopez de Legaspi, respectively.
Its natural ambience makes it unique as an island province which is commonly known as the "Island of your imagination!". A natural paradise in the sense that many coastlines are untouched which makes beaches lovely to stay and relax, it's blue sea waters are rich in enchanting marine life with coral reefs, waterfalls, springs and islets are heavenly and Camiguinons are hospitable and peace lovers.
Its mild tropical climate welcomes everyone who'll venture to stay in the island province for the whole island is surrounded by the sea.
Festivals in Camiguin, 1. Panaad - annual Holy Thursday and Good Friday activity, 2. San Juan Hibok-hibokan - June 24 - held to honor St. John the Baptist, 3. Lanzones Festival - held every 3rd weekend of October.
